Nominated PAUL FLETCHER

Position: Prop Forward
Date of Birth: 17/3/1970
Place of Birth: Hull
Height: 6.4'
Weight: 17.5 st
Nickname: Fletch
Year Joined: 1987

The biggest and most experienced member of Rovers squad, Paul strikes fear into the hearts of all his opponents but is also one of the true fans favourites at the club.

Paul served his benefit season in 1999 after spending over ten years at Craven Park. He signed for the Rovers Colts when only 16 and soon after was appearing for the A-team as well as Eureka before signing professional forms for Rovers in September 1987 remaining loyal to Rovers ever since.

At the end of the 1997 season Paul recieved numerous offers from Super League clubs including Hull Sharks who literally said 'name your price' but with Rovers not wanting to sell, Paul showed his faith in the club by signing a new 2 year contract.

Although one of the biggest players his aggressive on the field nature of tough tackling and hard running is not the same as his off field personality of a quiet family man who runs a successful Day Nursery business with his wife.

Having spent most of his career in the second row Paul has seen a change over the last few years playing out of position in the centres and at prop but has proven to be a revelation, especially in the front row, grabbing a number of tries and proving to be a handful for most opposition defences.

Like a fine wine Paul continues to get better with age collecting the Website Player of the Year award in 2002 and the Supporters Player of the Year award in 2003.

A very powerful runner with an excellent attacking and defensive game. A constant threat for oppositions making numerous clean breaks and crucial off loads. A destructive tackler respected by all the opponents he has come up against.

Paul scored his 100th try for the Robins in 2004 and now starts his 19th season with the club looking to break Mike Smith's appearance record with the Robins.
