Era of the Biff
Club followed: Hull FC
My greatest clubman is: Kenny Foulkes
Not
the greatest player ever to pull on the irregular black
and white
hoops, in fact his career spanned some of the leanest
times ever
experienced at the Boulevard, But after signing for
Hull in 1964, he went on
to give the club 22 years of service as a player then
coach and finally
manager.
Foulkes travelled every day from his home in Castleford,
never
complaining, never late, never absent. He never won
medal, never gained
representative honours, but if it was not for players
like him, our game
would be so different.
For every mercenary journeyman hopping from club to
club for big bucks, there used to be 5 Foulkes' 5 Tony
Dukes', 5 Paul
Fletcher's, its such a shame that it hardly happens
anymore.
