Title: ... p103 - Brian Bevan - Try of the Century - by Bryan Millington, Sleaford UK

Brian Bevan, coming from behind his own line, takes the pass and goes on a weaving run, beating 7 players

Story from  Bryan Millington, Sleaford UK

Wigan v Warrington. Charity Shield, Central Park, Wigan.

Warrington have a 5 yard scrum on their own line. Gerry Helme goes blind side and Brian Bevan, coming from behind his own line, takes the pass and goes on a weaving run, beating 7 players, I believe, and ending it with a try just to the left of the posts.

Distance covered was 110 yards, and took him 14 seconds.

Got to be the individual try of the century.

His 2nd try was of the opposite type.

Wigan had a little trick of clearing their lines, by their forwards, about 3 or 4 yards apart would whip the ball along the forwards and quickly gain 20 yards or so.

In this match they tried it, and Brian Bevan judged his interception perfectly and had the ball down over line in a flash.

There was a stunned silence, as it happened so quickly that few people had realised, then the applause started.

What a pair of tries. WHAT A WINGER, and what a gentleman.

Thank you brian, for all the excitement, answering the crowds cry "GIVE IT TO BEV".
