Title: ... p50 - Memories of Terry Randall - against Parra in the 78 finals .. by John Yarrington AU

During the 1978 finals Manly played Parramatta twice in the semis. The first match was a draw and Manly won the replay.

The first match was a very tight affair and could have gone either way. Half way through the second half Parramatta was "on the boil", their supporters sensed the moment and a try was looking likely when Geoff Gerrard ran hard on to the ball.

A split second later Gerrard ran into Terry Randall, who was going at the same speed, but in the opposite direction.

Both players hit the deck together, Randall got up and stood over Gerrard. Gerrard didn't move and the ball rolled away, very slowly.

You could have heard a pin drop in the old hill.

And that tackle changed the match.
