Title: ... P69 Bob Fulton, Memories of the 1973 Grand Final

JP here, 1973 GF - I was a saturated 12 year old waiting for the gates to open as the rain tumbled down with my parents. We sat in the Paddo corner and I can remember Balmain winning 3rd's against Newtown 10-7 and Manly beating Saints 22-14 in reserves.

Enter 1st grade, to this day the most brutal 40 minutes I can ever remember in 45 years of watching footy, and bloody fantastic.

Both teams let go and left nothing in the sheds.

Poor old Keith Page didn't have a clue as to what to do.

I've never been so excited at a GF as that one. In the end my all time football hero Bobby Fulton scored a try in each half to win Manly the premiership. By far and away the best era of rugby league with champion rugby league players on both sides.

A pity Cronulla didn't kick on '74 onwards as they had the ingredients of a premiership winning team.

one last mention, bring back the old jumpers, today's are crap.
