For mine Ken Thornett is the best fullback to ever play the game of rugby league. As well as his great attacking genius he could defend as well.

I can remember a day in 1965, a semi final against South Sydney when Michael Cleary, a big man himself and very fast took the ball in that game at the SCG running from the South West corner and by the time he reach the twenty five he was in full flight and what a sight that was.

Ken Thornett came across in cover and took the winger in a ball and all tackle,Michael and the ball looked as though they would end up in the ladies stand.

Although Parramatta lost Ken was unbelievable that day.
