Another that qualifies would have to be big John
"Dallas" Donnelly for the Magpies.
A 10 year career at Wests from '75 until his untimely
death in '84.
147 first grade games, 6 tries, 6 goals and 4 field
goals.
1 test & 1 world cup.
A down to earth, practical joking, lovable aussie
character.

Nominated: Keith Holman Western Suburbs Magpies
Wests best of the last 50 is Keith Holman (not that I'm biased). 203 First Grade games from 48-61, 2 Grand Finals + missed out on 52 because he was away with the Kangaroos. 32 tests + another bunch of World Cup games (they we're classified as Tests back then), Captain-coach during his playing days then came back in 77 to coach the Maggies to the Amco cup after a successful refereeing career that included the 71 gf and tests. Still to this day the patron of Wests Junior League and surely the only player to have a junior league club named after him. I had the pleasure of interviewing him at his home one day - what a shrine to the Magpies and a great player. Black and White to his bootstraps Keith and Hazel Holman are the guests of honor at just about every Magpies function. Yappy is as close to God as you can get.
Very, very honourable mentions must of course go to guys like Noel Kelly (it shows how great Holman was that Ned is relegated to second place), Peter Dimond, Jim Cody, Tommy, Dallas, Wayne Smith, Trevor Cogger, and even later day players like Cherry and Skando all busted their hump for Wests over long careers.
From Gobbs. from Weststigers Rugby League Forum
There's more to being a great footballer. A committed,
loyal clubman for one. And that's what old Trevor
Cogger was for Western Suburbs and still is.
Might not have been allstars but the criteria for
a member into a Hall of Fame shouldn't just revolve
around what players did on the field in my opinion.
But that's just me and i'm sure the Western Suburbs
club and supporters alike would agree. Probably
what separates the Black and White's from any other
club in the game. .

ed courtney, [australian rep when at norths
and wests?] way way back when
played a massive number of wests seasons/games in
the days when players retired a lot early
the guy played so long, he had his last season with
his son i think? .
From Yappy. from League Unlimited Rugby League Forum
Yep Tedda (ed courtney) was at the Magpies
from 1909-1924 (except for 1910 when he was at the
Bears - started in league with Newtown in 1908).
Played for Australia and must surely be the only
player to play with his son in First Grade. Tedda
Jnr played with his old man in the Front Row in
24. The thing is it wasn't like he was 19 when he
started. He started in First Grade Union in 1904!
21 seasons in First Grade. He was 44 when he retired.

From the Magpies and in my time following them I'd
have to plump for TC, Trevor Cogger.
All
heart and all Magpie.
From Tony Lewis, Springwood, NSW,
Its hard to pick only one clubman from Wests.
The era I have chosen for my picks are the years Noel Kelly
coached Wests (1966-1969). In no special order. Jim Cody (1967-1973) 117
First Grade games. Jim played anywhere in the forwards.
Ken"Nebo"Stonestreet(1967-1972)
122 First Grade games. Never had a bad game.Old
style
hooker. John Mowbray (1959-1968)85 First
Grade games. Very,very fast
winger with a huge heart. Dave Barsley (1959-1968)
114 First Grade games.
I think I saw Dave play in every position in the
back line.
John"Chow"Hayes (1961-1969) 121
First Grade games. Chow is Wests through and through. Played in all three Grand Finals 1961-1963.
And last but not least
Tony"Fred"Ford (1967-1974) 104
First Grade games. One of Wests best ever
fullbacks. This bloke could kick a ball the length
of Lidcombe Oval.
Just say the name Tony Ford to any old Magpie
supporter from this era and
they will smile.
From Rod Dredge, Hinchinbrook, NSW,
Keith Holman, is still very much alive, he
is the patron of Western Suburbs Junior Rugby League, where
up to 2 years ago he used to select the man of the
match in all Grand finals.
His support and interest of young people is legendary.
From Wayne O'Brien, Blacktown
NSW, (31-1-06)
So many GREAT WESTS MEN from hardmen (e.g. Ned,Dallas,
Les, Ray Brownetc) to club men such as Tevor Cogger
through To John Skandellis but for me my CLUBMAN
of all time has to be TOM TERRIFIC the one and only
MR. TOM RAUDONIKIS. How good was
this man? Small in body, HUGE in heart. From Ned
Kelly till Roy Masters there has been no other.
We love you TOM.
