The greatest match that I have ever been to?

For me it has to be when Wigan beat Manly 8-2 to win the ‘unofficial’ World Championship in 1987.

I remember it being the talk of Wigan for weeks beforehand. Everyone could sense that it was going to be a huge match/occasion.

The atmosphere was incredible with 37,000 people squeezed into Central Park.

I was only young at the time but I remember everything and it is a match that has always stayed with me.

I remember huge queues outside the ground and being more squashed then I have ever been in my life.

The game was tense, physical and was really close throughout.

To top it off an all English Wigan team beat the mighty Australians (in my eyes at the time).

It really was a once in lifetime match/occasion for me and one, in the age of all seater stadiums and health and safety, that will probably never be repeated.

I have probably seen better matches but for the entire occasion and atmosphere I always think of it has being the greatest match that I have ever been to.
