After
the historical first ever tied Rugby League Grand
Final, the stage was set for the much anticipated
replay. The game was held at the SCG on Tuesday, with
48.828 spectators in attendance.
St George under the guidance of the "old Fox"
coach Harry Bath bustled, belted and blasted Parramatta
off the field with some wild rough house play.
The Eels buckled under a St George onslaught that
was totally uncomprising in its intensity.
Two tries, a penalty try, six goals and a field goal
gave Saints a 22-0 victory. |

In the game St
George's International forward, Rod 'Rocket' Reddy went
ballistic and copped at least four cautions during the
game. In particular his run ins with the parramatta lock
Ray Price. It was amazing that Reddy remained on the deck
for the entire 80 minutes.
Rumour had it that Parramatta were instructed by their
coach Terry Fearnley not to retaliate to any St George
discretions and to turn the other cheek. According to
reports of the match Fearnley angrily refutes these claims
and stated that he never gave such intructions to his
players.
Poor Parra, three grand finals in two years, with no results,
and not a win for 31 years since their inception in 1947. |
