It was the Sydney Cricket Ground after the deciding test win to Aussie.

We bolted onto the ground at the full-time siren to congratulate the ozzie team.

I just happened to jump onto the back of the first oz jersey I saw, which was Priceys, which was rather ironic as I'm a Manly fan and hated Parra as much as they did us.

But Pricey gave me a quick departure from his back with the words "Get off me u little c#@t!

"Priceless!!!

(From Quigs, I am far from being a saint, but I thought we best censor the "C" word here Dave)

Quigs mate I had a similar experience to Dave (story above on Ray Price).

Parra were playing a trial in Lismore just before the start of the season, around 1980 or 81.

We 'Bushies' didn't get to see many of the stars & Pricey was a legend.

At fulltime I ran onto the field & jumped on Pricey's back. As a 12 year old I agree my
manners could have been better. Anyway he spun around and told me to f*** off.

My father quickly jumped in as any old sheep shearer would and threw a hay maker at Pricey. Pricey ducked and with one punch knocked him out cold.

My mother at that point went beserk and took him on throwing as many punches as Bowden did in the Broadhurst fight. Pricey ended up with a busted nose, cut lip & black eye out of it.

That night with mum in the holding bin, she gets a visit from Pricey who said she was the
toughest fight he ever had.

He also gave her an autographed jersey. Still holds pride of place in my home.

Pricey was indeed a class act.

(Quigs here ..... Okay Johnno, How about a pic of Mum and the jersey, would look great with the story)

Les Boyd must have been very easy to wind up due to the nature of his 'girlie' voice.

Mills was a cross section of hard and mad.

But hardest Pom has to be VK and Ray Price always put his body on the line, especially those bandaged knees.

Ray Price..Cared not for soul or body but only for the game itself.

'Mr Perpetual Motion' could be run over a fully laden semi but still stretch his arm out to pass a ball out to a rampaging Bobby Jay.

I used to love watching Ray Price from Parramatta, especially when the other team were going for goal.

The way Price use to stand was quite hilarious.

I was at an AMCO cup match [a while back] the rest of the teams [Eels V Dragons] had moved on down the field, leaving Ray Price and Rod Reddy directly in front of where my friends and I were sitting.

Ray Price's fist came off the ground and hit R.R. right under the chin. r.r. feet came at least 2 foot off the ground [something i had only seen as a stunt on old movies].

For various other reasons Ray Price is still my favorite player Cheers D.B.

South Sydney- & Parra only while Ray Price was playing

1976

I was 13 years old its 1976 in high school I had just started growning a beard, so I could look like Ray Price I played lock and wouldn't even take the field with out the No 8 on my back and yes I did have to sit on the bench once or twice because of my infatuations with Ray Price.

The high light of my playing day's was not wining grand finals not being chosen in the penrith under 23's traning squad not even the friends I had made over the years, it's while I was playing for Ashcroft in the Amco shield team we were lucky enough to play before a state of origin game at leichhardt oval.

At 1/2 time we were going into the dressing sheds and the NSW team were coming out to warm up and on his way past me the MAN him self Ray Price patted me on the shoulder and said have a good game, I almost past out after that I was so nervous I had a shocker for the rest of the game but what a high light it was for me.

Ray Price was and still is to this day the best and hardest player I have ever seen play the game by far.

Thanks Ray for the memories
