What team wouldn't give their right arm to have two players of this quality in their backline... the Crow and Brett Kenny.

What a player. A hard player. A tough player. I supported Cronulla, he played for Parramatta. He played in the 1977, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984 & 1986 grand finals. 1996 was his last Grand Final & Parramatta won.

He had a sore eye, but boy was he hard & tough. What a player. He kicked goals from everywhere. Ted Goodwin tried to touch him up one day, but he was too hard & too tough. Boy do I respect how hard & how tough he was. If only he played for the Sharks. Thanks for letting me relive my memories of this hard & tough player.

Before State of Origin - NSW V's Qld game played at Leichhardt Oval. The only time saw Mick Cronin frow a punch. He hit Gene Miles and I think Miles is still seeing stars.

Have you got any info on that game.

Cheers
Darren

I recall a match against Easts at the old Sydney Sports Ground.

Somehow Mick Cronin came up up with a tackle that the referree decided was worthy of being sent off. I'm sure that was the only time in Gentleman Mick's career!

The funny part was, rather than being upset about losing a man during an important match, his Parra team mates stood around and laughed hysterically! Cronin sent off for foul play? Now that's funny. I think they won.

I also had the privelege of sitting near Mick's mum at home game at Parra stadium. She always brought her knitting and never watched the game, until Micj took a shot at goal. She would watc quietly at that point, then go back to her knitting!

(Memories of the First State of Origin Clash 1980)

From reserve grade to QLD captain. AND he (Arthur Beetson) lead from the front.

We were standing on the hill at the XXXX brewery end.

Artie came on and the ground trembled under the roar from the crowd. We had been flogged year in and year out by NSW sides containing ex pat Qlders and we were dead set filthy. We sensed it, the crowd sensed it,
the players sensed it....we were seeing something extraordinarily special and we knew we were about to see probably the greatest sporting moment in Qld's history.

It was the end of being walloped.

To see Close and Meninga dominate Rogers and Cronin like they did will stay with me forever.

Likewsie Arthur standing up toe to toe with allcomers..what a night

My wife, family and I were driving south through Kiama. (south coast of NSW for overseas readers - Quigs)

As I came up to the Gerringong turnoff I said to my wife "you had better bow your head".

In response came "why do I need to do that".

I turned and face d her and said "you're in god's country".

To which came a further response "why".

I then said "Because Mick Cronin lives down that road".

My wife had the last statement "You and your bloody football"
