Your Favorite Moments

My favorite Moment is: Believe it or not I was an Oldham Supporter back then and it was a cold February night at Watersheddings.

Oldham were playing wigan in the CC 1st round. Oldham were already beaten before a ball had been kicked, they had players like Joe Lydon, Andy Goodway, Sean Edwards, Andy Gregory, Ellery Hanley etc etc and Oldham had players such as Ian Sanderson, Hugh Waddell, David Hobbs (who???)

after 19 mins Oldham took the lead with a penalty by Mick Burke and just before half time Andy Gregory got put into the sin bin which therefore give Burke another goal kicking opportunity 4 - 0 at half time.

Second half was the same - intense, nothing was giving etc.Dean Bell scored for wigan with Lydon kickingthe goal 4 - 6 Lydon increased the score 4 - 8 we thought we were on the racks now.

BUT........Who would have thought it a wigan knock on under their own posts, we got the ball from the scrum (Yes we had proper hookers inthem days)and Gary Bridge went for the line only to be tackled...then hail the hero PADDY KIRWAN, gives a dummy and sales across the line 8 - 8 Burke lands the goal 10 - 8 to Oldham.

Hooter sounds.......WHAT A NIGHT!!!!!! its interesting to note that Wigan never forgot that night and went on to retain the trophy 8 times in a row....
