Your article on the great Billy Ivison, who was
one of my hero's brought back a memory of Billy
that I will always cherish. SEE
FAVORITE MOMENTS No91
I had the great pleasure, as a teenager, of playing in a Reserve team
game for Workington Town at the end of Billy's career at Town and Billy
played in the game.
Billy made a break and I was running up behind him shouting for him to
pass the ball to me. Billy turned as if he was going to give me the
ball and then he turned away. From nowhere he was hit by about four
opposition players.
Billy got up and played the ball and I was at acting half-back. I
threw out a pass and then I was grabbed by Billy. He said to me, "I would
have give you that ball son, but you would have got f*****g killed".
What a great man and player.
