John Sattler Player Profile
Satts is one of the toughest, gutsiest players I watched
during my time watching the "Era of the Biff"
A leader by example, who would never expect anything
from his players that he would not do himself.
Who could or will ever forget his courage during the
1970 Grand Final when he played the entire match with
a double fractured jaw. (See Memorable matches)
he was no saint on the field but you could not help
but like him.
And
it's high enough, long enough, straight between the
posts
Drink your beers but shed no tears for these days you
miss the most
Every step and sill shinin' of Black-It from door to
door
And the tears poured out like Reschs the day John Sattler
broke his jaw

John Sattler talking about the 1970 grand final, almost all of which he played with a broken jaw to help Souths to victory over Manly. Great work by The Game Plan for giving us this great clip!
Played between St. George Dragons and South Sydney Rabbitohs. No matter what you're feelings about the result this footage has fantastic historical value, as some of the true legends of Australian rugby league take part in this game.
