Wombat Eadie was a young genius at No 1. He played with skill and guile well above his young age. He was thrown into the deep end when he replaceced the injured Changa Langlands on the UK tour of 73 and never looked back.
He was a major player in Manly's first and 2nd grand final victories.
He played 12 tests for Australia.

Artic cold conditions and an ice covered surface greeted the Aussies for the third test. Officials laid 18 tonnes of straw over the pitch in an effort to reduce the ice. Ground staff placed 44 gallon drums of hot coals on the surface in effort to thaw it out. All soccer matches and Race meetings had already been called off. Bob Fulton was quoted as saying it was without doubt the worst conditions he had ever played in.

It was the first win for Halifax since 1939 and the last before Wigan's great run of success. Chris Anderson was captain-coach of Halifax and other players to feature in the match include Graham Eadie and Colin Whitfield (Halifax) and Paul Loughlin and Mark Elia (St Helens).
