Les Boyd, well what can you say about the baby
faced assassin. Les loved the conflict of a torrid
battle. He was particularly obsessed with the
enemy, the Poms.
A brilliant forward with rare attacking skills,
Les loved nothing more than to inflict pain upon
the visiting Lions or other forwards who were
'mad' enough to take him on. Les's biggest problem
was he would frequently overstep the mark and
self destruct.
Boyd spent many times before the judiciary and was
finally blotted out of the game after the R.L crackdown
on violent and dangerous play. The judiciary chairman
Jim Comens handed down suspensions to Boyd of 12 months
and then 15months which brought an end to Boyds Sydney
career.
Les then crossed the equator and finished his professional
career with Warrington where he carved out a stature
of heroic proportions, before returning back to his
home town of Cootamundra in country New South Wales.
Les, along with Cronulla's Steve Kneen 12months and
West's Bob Cooper 15 months were all ruled out by the
Judiciary.
