DESCRIPTION |
Ken Thornett was known to his legion
of supporters as the Mayor of Parramatta. He was also know to
the Leeds fans. a side which he played for in the UK in 61 and
62, as the King of Leeds. It was said during his season with
Leeds that he did not drop a single ball.
Thornetts strength at fullback made him a feared opponent. He
was strong and nuggety, and difficult to tackle. He played in
an era of great fullbacks ... Les Johns, Graeme Langlands and
Keith Barnes.
He made the Kangaroo tour in 63 and played with his brother
Dick. The first brothers to play together for Australia since
the Farnsworth brothers in 1912.
